For 40 years, since 1977,  The Lamplighter Shoppe had a "brick and mortar" business in Williamsburg, Virginia and consulted with and provided lighting and accessories to homeowners, designers, architects, builders, and historic sites throughout the country.  We also dealt with lampshades, lamp repair, battery candles, bulbs, and Wren Waxx Candle covers.  During our years in business, we have become a favorite destination for designers, home owners, architects and restorations.

Projects within Colonial Williamsburg have included designing special lighting for the historic area, refurbishing lighting in the Capitol Building, many houses, and Christiana Campbell's Tavern. Non-invasive low voltage flickering candles were installed in antique chandeliers in the Governor's Palace and Capitol. We refurbished the Wren Building's lighting fixtures and created new sconces and candle stands for the College of William and Mary. We developed Wren Waxx candle covers for the Wren Building. These are now seen throughout the Colonial Williamsburg historic area and the United States. Our work also takes us into new building projects such as working with architects and designers to create the perfect space.  This expertise has made the Lamplighter Shoppe a favorite source from New York to California.

We have worked with many loyal customers in Williamsburg as well as all over the US and made friends through the years.  We have worked with our clients’ children and grandchildren.  We treasure their friendship and feel they are the most wonderful people in the world.

Although we are closing our long time brick and mortar shop on Jamestown Road in 2017, we are excited to offer a much improved and rebuilt online shop.   We are still available for consultations with home owners, designers, and architects, and restorations.
